The large old trees cast long cool shadows on beautifully sculpted memorials throughout the thirty plus acres. His peace and grace reign here.

Moses Cleaveland Tree Est. 1786
General Moses Cleaveland was working as a surveyor for the Connecticut Western Reserve in 1796. On July 22, 1796 he determined that the land at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River was a favorable location for a city. He then surveyed the land into town lots. Government employees named the land Cleveland in his honor.
Veteran Burials
We have over 1,800 veterans buried in all sections at Lutheran Cemetery dating back to our first Veteran burial in 1902. Our staff understands the importance of every Veteran. On Memorial Day all Veterans are honored with an American flag which is placed at the gravesite by volunteers the Wednesday before Memorial Day.
